GIRL CHILD IN NIGERIA

Nigeria is one of the most densely populated countries in Africa with the proportion of children under the age of 15, Nigeria has the largest number of children in the world who has not been educated. Cultural factors have been blamed but critics point to lack of money going to education.

The Girl child is a biological offspring from birth to 18 years of age before one becomes a young adult, we must remember that the Girl child is plagued with a plethora of challenges and lives in fear of violence almost from conception.

We owe her a duty to ensure she grows into an unlimited, unbroken and an ideal Nigerian Woman, the unfair treatment of the female child especially in regards to education has driven a lot of concern in Nigeria as the average rural Nigerian parent would rather invest in the education of the son rather than the daughter.
The war to be a relevant child in Nigeria starts as early at the age of 5 unlike their male counterparts with a little or no access to education, the Girl child is limited even where there are considerable provisions for the education of the Girl child in Nigeria, education is neither nor treated as a right to the girl child.
It is clear that the lack of access to quality education and opportunities to the female gender contributes to the stunted growth in Nigeria, the girl child must be treated better for Nigeria’s development.
